T.I. was born on September 25, 1980 in Atlanta, Georgia. Father, astute businessman, fashion icon, King of the South, future Hollywood A-Lister, and hip-hop standard bearer. He was dubbed "the Jay-Z of the South" by Pharrell Williams. T.I. gradually established himself as one of rap's greatest and most successful MCs during the early 2000s.
Since his 2001 debut LP, I'm Serious, T.I. has become one of the rare hip-hop artists who can not only say that his fan base and his record sales have increased with each new release, but that the critical accolades have continued to flow as well. His hard work and consistency was recognized with the most high-profile nods of praise in his career so far - a pair of Grammy Awards.
Based in Atlanta, T.I. has made a name for himself simply by being himself. Not with gimmicky, quirky facades, not with hype and hoaxes. He has earned the respect of his fans and his peers because he is a man who reveals himself wholly and holds it down for the streets even, sometimes, in the face of adversity.
Besides being an artist in the recording studio and on the silver screen, T.I. has several businesses, including his record label Grand Hustle. He is an avid supporter of charitable causes close to his heart, helping those less fortunate, especially low income children and their families.
The legend we know as T.I. seems like the stuff tall tales are made of, but it's all true: the good, the bad, and the ugly - and anyone who thinks they've got T.I. pegged had better think again.
